first things first
stretch + strengthen
As a participant on event day, the first thing you’ll do is get warmed up – and pumped up – with your fellow Mudderellas.
Follow signs from the base area to arrive at Stretch + Strengthen 40 minutes before your start time to ensure a seamless experience and help us to avoid overcrowding.
own your strong® on course
Remember, Mudderella is NOT a race – the goal is to complete the course. It’s about starting together and finishing together.
The courses are 5–7 miles and include 12–15 obstacles. It’s a true athletic challenge, designed to test all-around fitness.
It helps to be a good runner, but you don’t have to be a trained marathon runner in order to be a Mudderella. You can go through the course at your own speed, and there are opportunities to take breaks from running at each obstacle. Remember, you’re stronger than you think you are.
NOTE: If you’re not comfortable with an obstacle, you may skip it, and – most importantly – do NOT try a water obstacle if you can’t swim.
When you’re on the course, watch out for the guys in yellow vests, wielding cameras with oversized lenses. They work for MarathonFoto, Mudderella’s event photographers.
As you know, Mudderella will sometimes cover you in mud, making it difficult to identify each participant in a photograph. To ensure that you get to see all your fabulous mud-covered action shots:
- Pin your bib number on the FRONT of your body. We can’t identify you if your bib number is on the back.
- Ensure you can see a photographer – if you can’t see them, then they can’t see you.
Photos will be available to purchase online on MarathonFoto.com the Wednesday after the event.
receive your rewards
and lastly, you’ll
rinse + revive
Rinse yourself clean in our on-site rinsing stations.
When your hands and body are clean grab your bag from Bag Check (see below for more info) and head to the revival/party area.
Revive with on site yoga and massages – then celebrate with your fellow champions!
Remember, Mudderella is all about owning your strong and living life to the fullest. Hang out, enjoy the music, food, beauty, and your fellow Mudderellas. You’ve worked hard, you’ve earned it, now bask in it!

because teams do it better
It isn’t required that you join a team, but we highly recommend it. First of all, you’ll get to share the Mudderella experience with a group of your best friends. Second, you’ll get to choose an awesome team name. And finally, you’ll have an excuse to wear matching outfits. Would you really pass up an opportunity for color coordination?
Also, can you say “team discounts”?
grab your friends
All team captains must be women, so nominate one of your girlfriends to head-up your team, or better yet, start a team yourself!
even if they’re guys
Guys are welcome to join in on the fun, but only if a female team member has invited them to join their team. Seriously, though – We’ll be checking.

What to Pack:
the perfect on-course outfit
Obviously this is pretty important. Plus nothing makes you feel like you’re ready to workout more than looking the part. So…Wear whatever you will be most comfortable running in. We recommend wearing lightweight clothing that dries quickly and a pair of running shoes (no cleats, please).
a change of clothes + shoes
We’ll have rinsing stations and changing rooms, so bring an extra pair of clothes and shoes to change into once you cross the finish line. But hey, if you want to stay muddy, we won’t judge.
shoes to wear, then donate
Running shoes will be collected at the end of the event to donate to charity, so go ahead and ditch ‘em in our designated area.
in your bag
We will have a Bag Check for $5, so feel free to bring a bag and check it in while you run.
- valid photo I.D. (required for entry)
- printed and signed waiver
- confirmation email from EventBrite
- pre-paid parking email or $20 CASH
- waterproof sunscreen
- on-course outfit
- change of clothes and shoes
- bag to store muddy clothes post-event
- extra cash (we will have limited ATMs on site)
- good attitude — princesses and divas go home
Your start time will be assigned with two weeks of the event. You will receive an email to let you know it’s ready.
when to show up
Plan to get to the venue at least 2 hours before your start time. We know you like to be fashionably late, but trust us, you should get to Mudderella early.
Remember, you need time to:
- pick-up your packet at Check-In
- drop off your bag at Bag Check
- Stretch + Strengthen.
where to park
Parking locations vary from event to event so keep an eye on your email for details. In any case, parking will be $20 CASH per car, or you can purchase your parking pass ahead of time for only $10.
You can help keep things moving and purchase your parking pass in advance here. Be sure to print your confirmation and bring it with you. Online pre-pay parking will be available until the Friday before an event.
Parking is limited, so… save money, be green and carpool. We’re sure you can find some great tunes to listen to on the way to Mudderella to get pumped.
Mudderella offers a $5 self-service bag check option for any participant who wants to check their bag. Put your BLUE wristband on your bag before you check it – this is how we ensure each participant collects their own bag at the end. Feel free to share bags with friends, just make sure you remember where you dropped it off!

Base Area Checklist:
gear-up at the retail therapy tent
Find great gear for the day, comfy pants for the night, or a fancy Mudderella cup for your glass (bottle?) of wine later! You can also get this season’s gear online. Cash and credit cards accepted.
check out sponsors and vendors
Our great sponsors are on site – including Future without Violence, our official partner, a national organization who does amazing work to prevent domestic violence and support those affected. There will also be delicious food and drink options in case you didn’t get in the carbo-load you deserve!
be a good parent – send your kids to muddy munchkins
Bring your child to our Muddy Munchkins course with munchkin size Mudderella obstacles that are sure to satisfy antsy kids and photographer parents. Kids will need to be supervised by their parent or guardian at all times, so make sure your spectating fan club is in on the news.
visit the StrongWall
The StrongWall is a Mudderella tradition. Visit the wall and anonymously share an experience, person, or quality that makes you Strong. Read others’ contributions and make your mark on the wall, which travels to all Mudderella events.
